Let's get healthy for 2020!

Each month we'll feature a post for a new healthy lifestyle change.

This month: Eat more fruits and veggies (7-10/day)

A good way to start is snacking on vegetables and fruits (carrot or cucumber slices with hummus, grapes with a hard-boiled egg or blueberries/strawberries in cottage cheese), adding vegetables to omelets in the morning (spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, onions and peppers are all great choices). Add variety to salads with beans, nuts and quinoa.

Many people ask, what is the best diet to follow. It really depends on the individual or health needs (always follow the advise of your physician), but for most the Mediterranean style diet is a healthy choice to maintain a healthy weight and lower risk for cholesterol, heart disease and diabetes.

Better yet, consider joining a Direct Primary Care office where doctors have more time to discuss exercise and nutritional needs that are tailored for the individual.
